A senior police officer accused of sexually harassing a female police officer way back in 2011 will appear in the Honiara Magistrates’ Court again on July 24.
This is for the pre-trial conference on his case.
The matter was set for a pre-trial conference hearing on Monday.
That hearing however did not happen because the principal magistrate who was supposed to hear that matter was not available as she was reportedly sick.
Public Prosecutor John Wesley Zoze also informed the court that file was re-allocated to him from his colleague due to conflict of interest.
As a result of this Mr Zoze needs time to prepare the pre-trial conference documents first and sent it to the defence counsel for consideration before having them filed.
Magistrate Esther Lelapitu who heard the matter on behalf of her sister magistrate Tearo Beneteti therefore adjourned the matter and extended bail for the accused.
John Lee Kanabaea faces one count of indecent assault in relation to an allegation on 13 September 2011.
Prosecution alleged he committed the offence in a police station in Honiara on a female police officer.
Lazarus Kwaiga of L & L lawyers is representing the accused.
