THE Police Officer accused of stealing $300,000 kept as exhibit at the Police exhibit facility at Rove Police Headquarters will enter his plea again on August 3.
This was after the prosecution made amendments to a subsection of the Penal Code on the charge of Stealing as a Clerk.
The amendment was made by the prosecution based on new evidences that came in.
Makasi Dolaiano had already pleaded not guilty to one count of Stealing as a Clerk on the last court date and the matter listed for pre-trial conference yesterday.
In light of the amendment made, Principal Magistrate Tearo Beneteti was not happy about it saying that once investigation is closed it should not be re-opened.
However, after accepting the changes made to the charge, she granted an adjournment on which she said is the final one for plea.
Dolaiano was one of the officers who manned the exhibit facility when the $336,891.20, belonging to One Link’s customers kept as exhibit went missing in October 2020.
That missing $300k was recovered by police after they arrested the manager of the money investment scheme One Link Pacifica in April 2020.
The money belongs to the customers or investors of the scheme.
The 300k was initially kept at the exhibit facility at the Central Police Station.
It was later transferred to the Exhibit Facility at the Police Headquarters when it went missing.
