TWENTY police officers will undergo a cyber training starting today at the police headquarters in Rove, West Honiara.
Acting police chief Juanita Matanga said this is an important training for police officers in dealing with issues of cyber crimes in the country.
The training is part of the Cyber Safety Pasifika program that was recently launched in the country this week.
This program is an initiative designed to help children, young people and adults to use technology in a safe and responsible manner.
Ms Matanaga said as the use of internet and latest technology is now common within the society therefore it is important that people and especially youths and children to know the good and bad aspects of using technology.
She said this training should equip officers in identifying and dealing with cyber crimes in the country.
Its understood the community policing of the local police force together with its regional counterparts is currently reaching out to schools in a one week awareness program starting Monday this week.
