TWO of the three athletes who will be representing the country at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in Japan jetted out of the country on Monday.
The two athletes are; Sharon Firisua who will compete in the track and field athletics events and Mary Kini Lifu for Weightlifting.
The athletes are being accompanied by team officials which includes NOCSI President Martin Rara, NOCSI General Secretary Melinda Avosa, Weightlifting head coach Apollos Saeg, Swimming head coach Stance Sanga and athletics head coach and Olympiad Francis Manioru.
The third athlete, Edgar Iro who will be competing in swimming is currently in Thailand and will fly to Tokyo this week to meet the Solomon Islands contingent that left the country yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Ambassador of Japan to SI H.E Morimoto Yasuhiro has assured the Team Solomon that the Japanese Government is prepared and looks forward to welcome and hosting all athletes across the world including team Solomon in the grand official opening of the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
