Dear Editor – I want to express my deepest concern regarding the health service delivery in the Solomon Islands, especially here in Honiara the capital of the Solomon Islands.
The popular saying states “A Healthy Nation is a Wealthy Nation.’
Indeed, health is the first and foremost important aspect of government services that any country should prioritize.
As published in the news earlier this month, the National Referral Hospital (NRH) was put on the emergency mode.
This is primarily due to the shortage of essential medical supplies, consumables and anesthetic drugs.
As a result, only emergency cases were dealt with, and patients were forced to purchase their medications from private pharmacies.
This is an alarming issue in which the government needs to step in and address immediately as it poses a significant threat to the health and wellbeing of the citizens of Solomon Islands.
Sincerely,
Fay San
