PARLIAMENTARY Opposition Leader, Jeremiah Manele had warned that any fight against corruption must start within the Government.
In a statement issued to the local the media early this week, the Opposition Leader said the county can only change if the government of the day is transparent and honest in its decision makings and actions.
Mr Manele said, the current government had failed to live up to promises it made to the people of Solomon Islands since taking up office seven months ago.
He said, for the last seven months in office, Government had failed to deliver services it had promised people of this country.
The Opposition Leader said, instead, government had put itself into disrepute by making controversial decisions resulting in scrupulous deals.
He said, Government had continued to abuse public funds by extortion of millions of dollars of tax-payers money on controversial undertakings.
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare had earlier defended his government’s actions.
The Prime Minister said government actions were based on Cabinet decisions and as the political leader of the executive, he stands firmly to defend them.
