National u12 win Australia National Futsal championship title
Solomon Islands National U12 Futsal team are the champions of the 2016 Australia National Futsal championships held in Australia.
The young stars thumped New South Wales Thunders 3-1 in the grand final of the U12 category at Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre yesterday.
Reports reaching Star Sports saod it was a well fought final and a well-deserved victory for the Solomon Islands young stars.
“It was a well fought out and a well-deserved win,” according to SISC officials who accompanied Team Solomons to the competition.
“The boys controlled the first half pretty well and were more relaxed,” officials said.
“The second half was a bit tense, but the boys stacked quite well and proven to be worthy winners,” they added.
The young lads booked their grand final ticket after thrashing Queensland Metro 6-2 in their semi-final match yesterday morning.
Meanwhile, President of the Solomon Islands Sports Coalition Pr Nacanieli Seru said the boys have done the nation proud.
“Futsal is a sport that always makes the nation proud,’’ he said.
Seru also highlighted that their achievement came as result of SALT program conducted by the SISC in schools and communities in the country as well as the Bulk Shop league.
He said SICS is anticipating to kick off a junior league for primary and secondary students early this year to keep the level of development of the young players in a progressive manner.
