Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has received a courtesy visit from Islamic Republic of Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Solomon Islands His Excellency Mr. Babar Amin on Friday 18th October at the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Commissioner Amin extends Pakistani’s desire to expand and strengthen economic cooperation in the Pacific region.
He also share Pakistan’s potential pool of human resource in the field of medical, science engineering, information technology should both countries enhance and foster the relationship.
He highlighted the country’s economic capacity and their ideal location as a significant market in the Asian/Middle East region.
The Pakistan Commissioner is also aware of the country’s newly established diplomatic relationship with Peoples Republic of China (PRC).
“We can share our experiences on how to manage and maximize the relationship with China since we are a partner in the Belt Road Initiative (BRI) which benefits Pakistan a lot in terms of trade and economic growth.”
H.E Amin also registered his understanding of the plight of low lying island states who experience climate change.
Prime Minister Sogavare in return acknowledge Pakistan’s offer and look forward for further dialogue and economic cooperation.
Hon. Sogavare further updated the Pakistan Ambassador about his recent visit to China and point out the need for more cooperation within and abroad to see initial ground work as the country prepares to host South Pacific Games comes 2023.
H.E Amin with Residence in Canberra in Australia is looking forward for further dialogue between the Republic of Pakistan and Solomon Islands on many fronts in the future.
