GUADALCANAL premier Stephen Panga says his executive has not been dissolved as the Solomon Star reported on Friday.
“I want to inform my people of Guadalcanal and the public that my executive and provincial assembly has not been dissolved,” he said.
“The order that came from the minister of provincial government follows a request for funds through the ministry at a time where there is no budget to assist victims of the recent flash floods,” Mr Panga said.
He said since the budget for 2014-2015 has not been passed, the order came to ensure a three month budget is presented to the ministry to assist the province in this time of disaster.
He added without a budget there won’t be any money available therefore they need to hold their budget meeting after the court case that is still to be heard.
He said the court case relating to their political row will be heard on the 26th this month.
Mr Panga said the assembly should meet after the outcome of the case to debate the budget and hopefully resume normal administrative matters of the executive government.
Meanwhile, Mr Panga is calling on all provincial members to work together and have a common understanding to move the province forward.
He said if all members truly have concern for their people, the political impasse gripping the province would not go this far.
