THE People’s Alliance Party (PAP) has six new members following the crossover of the entire Parliamentary Independent Group to the Democratic Coalition for Change Government (DCCG) earlier this week.
The PAP is one of the coalition partners of DCCG.
The other partners are United Democratic Party and Kandere Party.
The new PAP members which include Manasseh Maelanga, Jimmy Lusibaea, Chris Laore, Elijah Doromuala, David Tome and Namson Tran increased the PAP membership to nine.
The other three members are Milner Tozaka who holds the position of PAP Parliamentary Wing Leader, Silas Tausinga and Freda Comua.
In welcoming the new PAP members, Mr Tozaka said:
“I am pleased to take this opportunity to welcome the six new members of the DCC Government to the party.”
He spoke highly of PAP as a party whose founding fathers like the late Solomon Mamaloni and late Sir David Kausimae have left behind a lot of good examples for Parliamentarians to follow in terms of rural development.
“The late Mamaloni and late Sir David have made a lot of emphasis on going down to the rural people with government services and development and these are legacies that we should follow.”
Mr Tozaka said he himself strongly believes in rural development and is passionate about implementing rural development policies and seeing them work.
He also spoke highly of PAP as a party that believes in the party system and the only party that has complied with the Political Parties Integrity (PPI) Act since it came into force.
“We believe in the party system and also believe that Parliamentarians as legislators must be committed to comply with the requirements of the PPI Act as it is a legislation passed by Parliament.”
