The People’s Alliance Party (PAP) has congratulated its Parliamentary Wing Leader and Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Milner Tozaka for resolving the five months long aviation impasse between Solomon Islands and Fiji.
Party President, Sir Nathaniel Waena told the party’s first meeting this year over the weekend in Honiara after the parliamentary elections last November, Mr Tozaka had been the flag carrier of both the Democratic Coalition for Change Government and the People’s Alliance Party.
He said, although there are problems still to be sorted out, Mr Tozaka’s initiative has resulted in the lifting of the aviation impasse.
Meanwhile, Mr Tozaka told the meeting he took the initiative because the country was losing out in earnings from ticket sales and the impasse had affected travellers and “our students” travelling between Honiara and Nadi via Port Vila.
