The People’s Alliance Party (PAP) Parliamentary Wing Leader and Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Milner Tozaka has called on party supporters to register now.
And he said the call also goes to those that are still considering whether or not to join the Alliance Party.
Mr Tozaka who is a die-hard PAP supporter at both thick and thin times said the decision to join the party will not be a mistake because P-A-P has good and sound policies which cater for the advancement of ordinary (grass-root) Solomon Islanders.
He urges supporters to keep and maintain their allegiance, commitment and support for and to P-A-P as it has begun its preparation programmes for the next General Elections in the first quarter of 2019.
Mr Tozaka who had been a single PAP MP in both Government and Opposition once or twice says the party will need continued support as it will be contesting the elections with the hope that it will secure majority seats to form the new Government.
But, he says to achieve the objective PAP needs to work hard now to collect sufficient resources to meet its activity needs.
Mr Tozaka says intending candidates, both women and men, must be adequately prepared to take on the political frontline by equipping themselves intellectually, physically and spiritually, to take on the leadership responsibility.
In other words, he says the selected candidates must reach a certain level of the pyramid in personal development to offer services to the people and country, adding besides being prepared, it is also important to have the quality of visionary leadership, and the aim to take up the leadership role as the people’s representatives in Parliament.
Mr Tozaka warns without that quality, PAP MPs will become followers as they will be subjected to being controlled and led by others.
And he adds, thirdly PAP candidates will need to prepare themselves to be dedicated and committed as leaders to serve the country and people, as the objective of winning an election is one thing but delivering the promises in terms of goods and services is another.
Mr Tozaka made the remarks while addressing the People’s Alliance Party National Convention in Honiara July 22.
