PAPANGU community in North Guadalcanal can now continue with their initial construction of a permanent church building.
The community on Wednesday received 40 pieces of corrugated roofing iron and other building materials made possible from constituency funds.
Member of Parliament (MP) for North Guadalcanal Samson Maneka hand over the materials to community representatives yesterday.
The $15,000 worth of materials will help members of the community to complete the church building project, chairman of the community Leonard Kilua said.
Mr Kilua said the community has been longing to have the building completed and with the help, they can now continue with work.
North Guadalcanal Constituency Development officer Judah Sikua said the assistance was part of constituency’s ongoing development program for communities in the North Guadalcanal constituency.
“As the officer responsible for this constituency, it is my responsibility to prioritize community needs such as church buildings to provide better worship places for communities,” he added.
