PRIME Minister Hon. Rick Houenipwela has scheduled the date for the next Parliament sitting to Wednesday 28th February, 2018.
The date was announced following the issue a letter of notification of commencement of Parliament by the Prime Minister to His Excellency the Governor General Sir Frank Ofagioro Kabui GCMG CSI OBE, on Monday 12th February 2018.
“As Prime Minister of Her Majesty’s Government of Solomon Islands, and in the spirit of the Section 32 of the Constitution, I write to advise you of my decision to convene the first meeting of the National Parliament of Solomon Islands for 2018 on Wednesday 28th February, 2018.”
Following the notification sent to the Government House, the Clerk of Parliament will also be asked to notify all Members of Parliament accordingly pursuant to Standing Order 7(2) of the Standing Orders of the National Parliament.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister is currently out of the country to attend the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) meeting in Port Moresby and will be back into the country this Friday.
