Passengers on a fully loaded truck traveling along the South Road in Malaita Province narrowly escaped death after the vehicle was involved in an accident.
The three-tonne vehicle left Auki town on Saturday afternoon loaded with passengers when it ran off the road at Faubaba in West Kwaio.
Reports reaching Solomon Star Auki claimed passengers sustained injuries during the accident.
But there were no reports of any death.
While the cause of the accident is still unknown, some claimed that the accident happened after the steering wheel failed to function properly which forced the vehicle to veer of the road.
The latest accident triggered members of the public to call on police to do regular inspection of vehicles, especially those that provide public transportation to ensure they are road worthy to avoid such accidents.
Vehicle owners who normally provide public transportation are also being urged to make it a priority to do daily checks on their vehicles before loading passengers.
The vehicle that was involved in the accident is a well-known vehicle that usually provides public transportation along the South Road.
