MOST of the passengers who have travelled from Honiara to Malaita via Outboard Motors (OBM) are unvaccinated, it was revealed.
Speaking to this paper on anonymity, one of the passengers who recently arrived in Malaita on an OBM this week said everyone who travelled with him on the same OBM were unvaccinated.
The passenger revealed that when the OBM they were travelling on was overloaded, the skipper asked some passengers to offload due to safety reasons.
The passenger then revealed that those who were left behind are vaccinated passengers while only unvaccinated passengers travelled on the trip.
Asked about the reason for leaving vaccinated passengers behind, the response was that those vaccinated passengers will still have the chance to travel back to Malaita if shipping service is restored.
Those unvaccinated passengers are of the view that if shipping service to Malaita is restored in the coming days with strict restrictions which require only passengers with vaccination cards, they will not stand a chance of making it back home.
Those who travelled back to Malaita now reunited with their families without being quarantined or undertake swab tests to determine their covid-19 status.
In the meantime, the passenger said the OBM that transported them to Malaita this week have returned to Honiara with some passengers.
He said they are making a lot of money out of their trips in the absence of shipping service between Honiara and Malaita.
