The Point Cruz Yatch Club (PCYC) cricket team has won the Kevin O’Brian memorial cricket match over the weekend after defeating Point Cruz Yatch Club by 32 runs 123-93.
The match was played at the King George Sixth cricket field.
These are the only two teams that took part in the memorial match.
The match is also used to display how the game is played for the public to see and hopefully attract some interested person to come along and have a go at it.
Cricket used to be one of the known sports in the country way back in the 80s and 90s.
Since then it has died down and the Solomon Islands cricket are trying to revive the sport.
“We need interested cricket players from schools level, company and government ministries to participate.
“We need at least four teams to start our competition start next week.
The competition is organized by Solomon Islands cricket association.
