THE two day National Dialogue on Sustaining Peace and Stability in Solomon Islands is set to kick off in Honiara, Monday.
It will end on Tuesday.
Mr Sogavare will play host to the event which is a collaborative effort by the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of National Unity, Reconciliation and Peace and Ministry of Women, Youth, Children and Family Affairs with support from the UN Peacebuilding Fund (UNPBF) project.
It will be held at the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara.
The dialogue will be attended by Members of Parliament, Provincial Premiers, Women, Youth and Community Leaders.
Prime Minister has also invited international stakeholders as observers.
It was reported that prior to the forum, the Government with support from the UNPBF, has been holding a number of provincial- level dialogues.
“The National Dialogue presents an opportunity for recommendations remerging from these dialogues, as well as studies commissioned to date to allow for stakeholders to come together to discuss solutions to developmental, social cultural, economic and governance challenges facing the country.
“The Dialogue will also provide an overview of the country’s path over the past decade towards peace and stability.
“It will also highlight issues and recommendations by national stakeholders, including women and youth to further accelerate socio-economic development, governance, rule of law and reconciliation in the country,” a statement from the PMO press has stated.
Meanwhile, following the dialogue, a communiqué that will feature the commitments towards the implementation of some of the recommendations for sustaining peace and addressing development challenges by leaders and participants will also be compiled.
