Man beaten up, handed over to the Gizo Police for spying on girls and stealing ladies’ underwear in village outside the Western Provincial capital
A MAN was beaten up and handed over to the Gizo Police Station for spying on girls and stealing ladies’ under wear at Titiana village, outside the Western Provincial capital, Gizo.
A Titiana villager, Teimairi Take, told Solomon Star Gizo that the suspect was caught red-handed by community leaders spying on girls and women while they were asleep few nights ago.
Mr Take said the suspect is a regular guy who roams around at night to spy on girls and steal their underpants.
According to Mr Take, the suspect after being caught, was taken to a custom house known as Teimanapa, where he was beaten up as part of community disciplinary measures for his action.
The community, after disciplining the suspect, referred him to the Police and that saw him transported to Gizo hospital. He was later arrested and is now awaiting to be charged.
Mr Take told Solomon Star that the suspect has been spying on girls and stealing their underwear for years now and he is infamous in the Micronesian community for his evil actions.
He said villagers were fed up with the guy and when he was caught red-handed, they collectively decided to do what they have done to him and that was beating him up and handing him as part of their community disciplinary measures against people who commit such acts and handing him over to the police so they can deal with him according to the laws of the country.
“When we see him do the same action, we have no option but to teach him by disciplining and let the Police deal with the kind of person that is very awful and disrespectful.
“I think that person is insane although he acts normal. His actions depict him as a dangerous person so we have to deal with him accordingly.
“He has been doing this for long time but we never took it seriously. However, his actions have reached a stage that we could not tolerate any more. Rape may be the next thing that will happen if nothing is done as a community to address such actions by the guy,” Mr Take said.
