DUE to a high demand for shipping services on the Honiara-Western Province route and Honiara-Choiseul Province route, especially by passengers wanting to return to Honiara after spending the festive season in the two provinces, Pelican Shipping Limited’s two fast-crafts will be making special trips this weekend on these routes.
Pelican Shipping Limited’s two fast-crafts are Pelican Express 1 and Pelican Express 2.
Pelican Express 1 is scheduled to depart Honiara to the Western Province tomorrow, Friday 31 January and Pelican 2 will make her voyage on Saturday 1 February to Choiseul Province.
Pelican Express Limited said it has received numerous calls from passengers from these provinces who want to head back to Honiara after enjoying their festive season holidays.
“We received a number of calls, so we are going to provide additional trips for Western Province and Choiseul Province,” the company said.
The other passenger vessel that provides service on the Honiara-Western Province route is MV Marina 2, which is owned by Fair West Shipping Company. However, MV Marine 2 is undergoing maintenance at the Noro slipway.
The absence of MV Marina 2 impacts shipping services on the Honiara-Western Province route, which it primarily serves.
