THE Government needs to invest more in its people.
Minister for Development Planning & Aid Coordination Danny Philip reiterated this while speaking in parliament on the 2015 budget this week.
“The government has named the 2015 budget after the people, therefore it must give it to the people so that the real changes that we talked much about could happen in our constituencies,” Mr Philip said.
He spoke highly of the $4.18 billion budget, saying that this will help to provide the right tools for our people to participate in economic activities that will change the poor quality of life we been suffering.
He said that capacitating our people is the right way to do things by providing them the right tools and the right opportunity to do the job that will deserve goodness for them, the community and the country as a whole.
He stressed that MPs must go down to the constituencies and see the situation on the ground and attempt to address the facts of the development needs of our people.
Mr Phillip further stated that “we need to improve our infrastructures in the rural areas, provide better education and health facilities, improved sanitation and fresh water accessibility are key areas that we must address now”.
“We have to improve the living of our people to at least get us closer to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDG),” Mr Phillip stated.
