THE Chairman of the 2017 Tu Ata games Stoney Piva has thanked the participants of the competition for making the event a success and enjoyable one for the people of Sikaiana held over the weekend.
In his final remarks during the closing ceremony and prize presentation of the much loved event for the small but vibrant community Piva expressed his appreciation.
“We have competed and have embraced the heat for past two days and gathered here to witness the presentation of awards and eventually the closing ceremony of the Tu Ata games,’’ he said.
“On this note and on behalf of the committee and Mr and Mrs Sisilo, I wish to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank you all for your participation in the tournament which have been very successful,’’ an delighted Piva said.
The chairman also acknowledged other fellow Solomon Islanders who also attended and participated with Sikaiana community through marriage, adaption and etc.
Coordinator of the games Duke Telaupa also shared similar sentiments at the closing ceremony and prize presentation on Sunday evening at the Red Beach Sports grounds.
“It is very pleasing to see our games ended very successful,’’ he said.
He also thanked the officials and those who supported the smooth running of the competition.
Meanwhile, the program was ended with magnificent entertainments from dancing groups and a BBQ to farewell 2017 Tu Ata games which coincided with the country’s 39 Independence celebration.
