The Minister for the Ministry of National Planning and Development Coordination (MNPDC), Hon. Rexon Ramofafia, is in Bali, Indonesia, attending a three days High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships.
The forum, which commenced on Sunday, September 1st, and concludes today, September 3rd, 2024, serves as a crucial platform for global leaders, policymakers, business executives, and civil society representatives to engage in meaningful discussions aimed at accelerating global partnerships for effective development cooperation.
The theme of this year’s forum is “Strengthening Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships for Development: Towards a Transformative Change.”
The Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of National Development Planning extended the invitation to Hon. Ramofafia, recognizing the importance of addressing issues that are particularly relevant to the Solomon Islands, including:
- Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships for Strengthening South-South and Triangular Cooperation
- Enhancing Welfare and Sustainability through Sustainable Economy
- Advancing Development through Innovative Financing
Hon. Ramofafia has also been invited to speak at the Parallel Thematic Session on “Rising Sea Level: Strategic Responses for Sustainable Development,” a topic of critical importance to the Solomon Islands, given the nation’s vulnerability to climate change and rising sea levels.
In a statement, the MNPDC says the forum presents an opportunity to advocate for strategic international support and to collaborate on innovative solutions that address the unique challenges faced by island nations.
“The insights and partnerships formed during this event will be instrumental in shaping the future development and sustainability of the Solomon Islands.
“This invitation stresses the importance of Solomon Islands’ voice in the global dialogue on sustainable development and highlights the critical role it plays in addressing climate change challenges,” the statement concluded.
