The captain of the Solomon Islands national men’s senior football squad, Junior Henry Fa’arodo has called on all players to be committed to training.
In a statement on social media Facebook yesterday Fa’arodo said after the friendly match this weekend all players concerned must be committed to sessions planned by the interim coach.
Eighteen players have been named for the friendly match against Brisbane Wolves FC.
“This team is just for the Wolves game this Saturday 27/08/16.
“After this game all 30 players must attend sessions planned by our interim coach.
“So please be advised that another selection will be done for the FIFA third stage of the World Cup Qualifiers in November.
“To be in the final cut these are some of the criteria, so players take heed,” he said.
He highlighted some of the criteria players should meet.
“Attend all senior team training sessions and planned activities, once called up, make their respective clubs first 11 consistently throughout the S League season, high performance in the S League competition consistently and in a spirit of the game, train and be role models with respective clubs.
“These are only some of the criteria any player must tick to be part of the 30 man squad,” he said.
The SIFF president has also echoed a similar call recently stating it is time to take tough measures with regards to preparations for the third stage of the World Cup Qualifiers.
He said players must prove to be committed and disciplined both in and off the pitch.
