A THREE-DAY leave has been granted for all public servants in festive season.
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare in a special nationwide address last Friday said the national Cabinet has granted 3 working days between Christmas and New Year for all civil public servants.
Prime Minister Sogavare said the 3-additional recuperation leave days’ are for all public servants employed at national and provincial governments and at Honiara City Council.
“I am happy to inform you all that the national Cabinet has granted the 3 working days between Christmas and New Year, these being 28th, 29th and 30th of December as ‘recuperation leave days’ for all civil servants employed by the national and provincial governments and Honiara city council,” Mr Sogavare said.
He added Cabinet granted these additional leave days in recognition of the dedication of all public servants in 2021 despite tremendous challenges faced during the year.
“For public servants that must work on these three days, their additional leave days will be accrued to their leave entitlements to be taken later.
“This decision does not affect the private sector as they are not public holidays. However, some private sector employers may wish to consider a similar approach for their employees,” Sogavare said.
