PRIME Minister Manasseh Sogavare and his delegation to the 70th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting in New York have arrived back in the country, Wednesday.
Mr Sogavare was met on arrival at Honiara international airport by the Deputy Prime Minister Douglas Ete, Commissioner of Police Frank Prendergast and the Secretary to Prime Minister Joseph Waleanisia.
Cabinet Minister and Government Backbench members and heads of the Diplomatic Missions and senior government officials met the Prime Minister at the VIP lounge.
The Prime Minister was accompanied to New York by his wife, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade Milner Tozaka, Mathew Waletofea MP, Secretary to the Prime Minister Joseph Waleanisia, PS Foreign Affairs Joseph Maáhanua, PS Finance Shadrach Fanega, Chief Planning Officer MDPAC Samuel Wara, Foreign Affairs official Janice Mose and Philip Fafe, the PM’s Executive Personal Secretary, the Press Secretary, two government advisers and a close protection personnel.
The Solomon Star understands Mr Sogavare has been praised by local Free West Papua Campaigners for raising the West Papua issue in one of the world’s largest gathering, the UN.
