Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Prime Minister (PM) Jeremiah Manele MP held a productive bilateral dialogue with the Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, His Excellency, Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi.
At the outset of the meeting, Prime Minister Manele expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of the Solomon Islands Government for the ADFD’s vital contribution to the Tina Hydro Project, a landmark initiative and the country’s first large-scale renewable energy project. The ADFD’s support is a beacon of hope, symbolizing the collaborative efforts of the Government, the people of Solomon Islands, and its international partners, in driving transformational progress- a key milestone in the nation’s journey toward achieving energy independence and building resilience.
Another important initiative discussed was the follow-up on the Solomon Islands’ proposal for ADFD support for the Bina Harbour Project.
The ‘Bina Harbour Business Case’ was formally handed over to ADFD for further consideration.
In addition, the dialogue also focused on funding for the Dala-Atori Road Project, a significant infrastructure development in the Malaita Province.
The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to express the country’s keenness to explore various investment opportunities in tourism and other sectors to strengthen future cooperation and partnerships.

His Excellency, Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi has indicated interest in supporting the Solomon Islands medium to long-term transformative infrastructure projects such as the Bina Harbour and Dala to Atori road Projects.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of National Planning and Development Coordination Hon. Rexon Ramofafia, Member of Parliament for West Kwaio Hon. Claudius Teiífi, Secretary to Prime Minister Sir Dr. Jimmie Rodgers, Permanent Secretary Ministry of National Planning and Development Coordination, Dr. Melchior Mataki and Permanent Secretary Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Dr. Christian Ramofafia.
Head of mission, Solomon Islands High Commissioner to the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Cornelius Walegerea was also part of the Prime Minister’s delegation to the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development bilateral meeting.
