UNITY CALL
The Prime Minister Rick Houenipwela has appealed to the nation to continue to pray for the Government and for the people of Solomon Islands.
As part of the Prime Minister and his wife, Madam Rachael Houenipwela’s fellowship program, Hon. Rick Houenipwela and his family attended last Sunday’s Church service and fellowship at the Church of Melanesia’s main St. Barnabas Cathedral in Honiara.
The Prime Minister was given a welcome by the Dean of the St. Barnabas Cathedral, Reverend Philip Rongotham, and a welcome hymn sang by the St. Barnabas Cathedral Choir before presenting his remarks to a packed Cathedral.
In his address, the Prime Minister also acknowledged the remarks made by Rev. Rongotham during his sermon and stating that, “whilst we are provided with so many blessings in our lives, it is our duty as dominions over the creations from our God to take good care and appreciate our blessings always.”
Speaking on the purpose of the regular visits to various religious denominations in the country, the Prime Minister stated,
“One of the ideal purposes for our regular visits to join other religious denominations in their church is to impress on our Christian brothers and sisters not to stop praying, to continue to pray”, he said.
The Prime Minister stated that the country is faced with a lot of challenges and further reiterated his call to the people to continue to pray for the Government, leaders and the people of this country.
The Prime Minister, a regular member of the South Seas Evangelical Church (SSEC) congregation, further expressed that that he and his wife decide to visit other denominations “in order to have fellowship with our other brothers and sisters whom we could not have fellowship with around the word of God,” he said.
Hon. Houenipwela also took the opportunity to extend on behalf of the Government and leaders of this nation for their continuous prayers and support to the Government and leaders.
Since elected as Prime Minister in late 2017, the Prime Minister and his wife Madam Rachael Houenipwela have since devoted their time to visit and join church services with other religious denominations.
