PRIME Minister Manasseh Sogavare has received a courtesy visit from Singapore’s Ambassador to the Pacific Island Forum, His Excellency Verghese Matthews at the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet on Monday.
The purpose of the visit is to reaffirm Singapore’s continuous support to Solomon Islands and to strengthen relationships between the two countries.
His Excellency Matthews also highlighted Singapore’s technical support to Solomon Islands under The Singapore Cooperation Program in the areas such as Economic Development, Trade and Tourism Promotion, Public Administration, Governance and Law, Education, Information and Communication Technology.
According to the Ambassador, the support is Singapore’s effort to pay forward what Singapore had benefited from during its post-independence years.=
H.E Matthews further expressed Singapore’s desire to work together with the Solomon Islands and other island states.
The rime minister in response expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador for Singapore’s continuous support to the Solomon Islands and acknowledged Singapore as the model country for island states like Solomon Islands to learn from.
