A Man from Central Kwara’ae in Malaita has appealed to the Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare to stop using provoking and disrespectful words to refer to Malaita and its leaders.
Jessy Pepate’e of Maoro community stated this after listening to PM Sogavare’s hate speech towards Malaitans and its leaders recently.
Mr. Pepate’e said using words like, “nonsense and stupid” to refer to Malaita people and its leaders is uncalled for.
“I am surprised to hear the PM used such provoking words in his speech to refer to Malaitans and its leaders.
“I have been listening to PM Sogavare’s speeches recently and it is quite sad that the PM choses to use provocative words when referring to our Malaita leaders,” he said.
He added, the PM used words like nonsense and stupid to refer to the Opposition leader who is from Malaita and the Premier of Malaita.
“We Malaitans are not nonsense and not stupid as the PM was misled to believe.”
“I think the PM should compensate Malaita for calling its leaders and people nonsense and stupid in this regard.”
With that, Mr. Pepate’e reminded the PM that Malaitans are made up of highly educated, respectable people, with a strong culture.
He said for the PM who is from another province to label Malaitans and their leaders with disrespectable words is unacceptable.
