Prime Minister (PM) Rick Houenipwela says the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has enough time to look into the budget before parliament resume meeting on 19th of March this month.
He said this following suggestions from members of PAC to adjourn parliament to 26th of March to allow PAC more time to look into the budget, since a period of two weeks is not enough and exerting too much pressure on them to scrutinise the budget.
PM said he was once the chairman of PAC so speaking from his experience they had to go through the budget within a period of one and half week to prepare, which in this case two weeks is given should be enough time.
Thus, PM said PAC has enough time to deal with the budget so parliament is adjourn to the 19th of March.
