THE Parliamentary Opposition Group is calling on the Prime Minister to do justice to this nation by calling Parliament immediately.
In a statement yesterday, the Opposition Group challenged the Prime Minister to convene Parliament as soon as possible so that issues the Prime Minister promised to clarify in Parliament can be debated.
“In light of the strategy undertaken by the Prime Minister to snub controversial issues of national concern, the Opposition Group is calling on the Prime Minister to call Parliament immediately,” it said.
“The Prime Minister has recently promised to clarify to the nation controversial issues that are currently faced by his Government in Parliament; and it is only right that Parliament must meet so that people of this country can have some answers.”
The statement added that people in this nation need answers and as a responsible Government it must not hold this nation in ransom and continue to remain silent over the serious issues raised by the Opposition and the people.
The Opposition Group statement added that the Prime Minister should not shy away from these issues.
“The Prime Minister’s silence can only mean two things and that is the Prime Minister is ignorant of the issues raised, or it is an acceptance of guilt,” it said.
“Apart from the Prime Minister being silent on issues raised by the Opposition, senior ministers in his Cabinet have also been silent. This includes a good number of former Prime Ministers which does not reflect well on DCCG.”
