THE Papua New Guinea (PNG) music artists, who performed at the Aelan Riddim Music Festival (ARMF) in Honiara last Saturday night at the Pacific Crown Hotel, shared their ‘memorable’ experiences from the event.
Two of the five artists spoke to Paoa FM in a video interview at the Jackson’s International Airport in Port Moresby upon their arrival home from Honiara.
The Paoa FM Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Joel Lamani was transiting at Jackson’s Airport in PNG when he conducted the video interview.
Kali Dion, a seasoned PNG artist, expressed his excitement about the festival and his hopes for future events.
“I just came back from the Aelan Riddim Music Festival in Honiara, and it was an absolutely amazing experience. I’m already looking forward to the next one.”
Kali D, who collaborated with Solomon Islands artists such as Seanrii, Chris Young and Baka Solomon during the festival, described meeting local music legends like Wally Pazzi and JAG as a dream come true.
“Growing up listening to their music and finally sharing the stage with them on Saturday night was truly special,” he added.
Mereani Masani, the only female artist in the PNG lineup, also shared her excitement and gratitude with Paoa FM.
“Hello everyone, it’s me, Mereani Masani here. We’ve just touched down at Jackson’s Airport in PNG, returning from the Solomon Islands after the Aelan Riddim Music Festival. It was such a wonderful experience,” she said.
Masani, who has been in the music industry for over a decade, described the festival as a milestone in her career.
“I got to meet so many amazing people, and everyone made us feel at home. I already miss the place and hope to visit the Solomon Islands again. Thank you to everyone for the warm hospitality. I can’t wait to see you all again,” she added.
Saii Kay (Sailas Kania), Jacob Hines (Jarahn), and Tau Po’o (J Liko) were other PNG healing artists who joined the music fest.
They were accompanied by the Makasi Band, featuring members Grainger Runialo, Wesley Midian, Josephat Loksi, Noah Kana Jr and Julian Semoso.
The Aelan Riddim Music Festival organizers have expressed plans to expand the event to other Melanesian countries, aiming to promote Melanesian music and culture while uniting artists across the region.
