BRISBANE based PNG singer/song writer, Jagarizzar has over the weekend teamed up with Solomon Islands reggae sensations DMP in organising a concert for flood victims of the Honiara flash floods.
Not only that but the musicians have took time out to approach other Pacific Islanders in Brisbane to help out the thousands now homeless in Honiara following last week’s flash floods that has so far claimed 23 lives.
According to reports reaching this paper, the PNG singer took to the stage and sang his heart out alongside the touring DMP, whilst also making an appeal to the audience to help the people of Solomon Islands who had been heavily stricken by last week’s flash floods.
In an email to Solomon Star, Jagarizzar, who is currently making hits and pulling ratings on YouTube with his debute music video launched two weeks ago, said that his heart cries with the people of Solomon Islands who are facing various difficulties with the current situations experienced.
“Solomon Islands is like home to me. I have a lot of friends, relatives, a lot of wantoks that know and are related to people affected by the floods.
“Therefore I would like to also help whatever means I can,” he said.
Meanwhile, DMP band members have expressed their sympathy and condolences to those who had lost loved ones during the floods and also calling on all Solomon Islanders to put their hands together and help in every means possible.
“We are indeed heartbroken to hear such news and not be there, our home where we were at only two weeks ago.
“Therefore we have decided to help out and what good opportunity than whilst we are here in Australia,” vocalist Evin Rush said.
He also added that it is encouraging to see such big artists as Jagarizzar also stepping in to assist.
Meanwhile, DMP and Jagarizzar will this weekend be in Sydney to perform a concert purposely for flood victims.
