Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Naha Police Station with the help of the community at Mamulele at Borderline area have arrested a 16-year-old male suspect from East Kwaio in Malaita Province this morning 17 September 2021.
The arrest was done in relation to the alleged stabbing incident of a Bangladesh National at borderline bus stop on 11 September 2021.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Honiara City, Superintendent Jimson Robo says, “The suspect was arrested at the Mamulele community following information received from that area.”
Supervising Commander, Superintendent Robo says, “A screwdriver, the alleged suspect used during the stabbing incident was also confiscated during the arrest. The screwdriver will be kept as a police exhibit.”
The incident occurred at the Borderline Bus stop on 11 September 2021 when the Bangladesh National and his wife went to a nearby store for top up. On their way to that shop, they met the suspect and he asked them for money but the Bangladesh National told him that he had already spent his money on top up and he had no extra money.
The suspect then came from behind the couple and pushed his wife several times and when the victim intended to assist, his wife the suspect took a screwdriver and stabbed the victim and landed on his side neck and later stabbed the victim’s mouth and broke one of his teeth.
“Such action should not happen in our communities.
“Good if we try to engage in small money generating incomes to sustain us rather than asking money with frustration and stab someone which is not good enough,” says PPC Robo.
PPC Robo says, “The suspect is now in police custody awaiting further dealings and a remand application was prepared. I would like to thank the community for their great support in providing the information to the police to make this arrest.
