POLICE Commissioner Frank Prendergast has thanked the Honiara public for their assistance and cooperation during the state funeral held for the country’s first Prime Minister, the late Sir Peter Kenilorea on Tuesday.
He told the media during the weekly police conference that he is pleased with the assistance and cooperation shown by general public in ensuring traffic was controlled.
“On behalf of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) I thanked community and the general public for the assistance and cooperation during the state funeral,” Mr Prendergast said.
“It was a moving funeral service.”
He conveyed the RSIPF’s sympathies to the late Sir Peter’s family.
The police boss also acknowledged his officers’ contribution to the services and others who performed other duties that day.
The state funeral service was held on Tuesday and the body of the late Sir Peter was transported to his home village in Are’Area where he was laid to rest on Thursday.
