The new Royal Solomon Islands Police Force police chief says he wants to train more policemen and women to join the police force.
Frank Prendergast said young men and women from all the provinces and Honiara who are interested in taking up policing as their future career should apply for to join the Force.
Mr Prendergast said a Police Recruitment Team has so far received 1,600 applications since RSIPF vacancies were advertised in the media.
But he said only 120 applications will be accepted and will attend police training at the Rove Police Academy.
He said police officers’ work is important for Solomon Islands because they ensure national security and that law and order are maintained at all times.
