Police officers at Kirakira police station in Makira-Ulawa Province recently conducted a crime prevention strategy initiative and law & order awareness talks to the people of Mu’u village Central Bauro in Makira-Ulawa Province.
Members of the Community Policing Team conducted the outreach on Sunday 20th October 2024.
The awareness talk topics included; Crime Prevention strategy initiative, Kwaso, Marijuana, Family Protection Act, good Parenting,
The team also assisted the community in finalising their by-laws.
Team Leader Community Policing SGT Audrey Suhata said, their awareness team was impressed with the turnout of people in the community during the awareness talk and contributions made during by-law finalisation.
He said, the people contributed a lot during the discussions which is good because the document belongs to them.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Silas Sitai said the team explains law and order and the consequences of breaching it and emphasis on crime prevention strategy and its importance given that many communities have come to realize the high rate of antisocial activities in the community.
The SARA Model training for the community is set to be held on 27th of October 2024 and By-law launching is scheduled for 31st October 2024.
Sergeant Suhata reiterated to community members that they can achieve greater things for their community once all of them learn to work together, respect and having the mindset of ownership of their own community.
Community leaders have acknowledged the team’s effort in visiting their community and conducting awareness in maintaining the law and order.
