The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has received a report of a chemical spill from the Tenaru national secondary school on Wednesday.
Supervising Police Commissioner, Gabriel Manelusi, said the report from the school principal was of a chemical spill at the school’s science lab.
“It was alleged the ceiling in the science lab fell onto the shelf where the chemical jars were stored,” Mr Manelusi told journalist at the Police Commissioner’s weekly conference, Thursday.
“Officers from Fire and Rescue Services attended the report and notified the Ministry of Environment.
Mr Manelusi said there were no casualties or inquires reported to police.
He added that police attended to the scene and condoned the science lab area.
He thanked the school administration and the students for their cooperation and support.
“The fire officers had rectified the issue and advised them that the area was now safe as of Wednesday evening.
“The fire team is now looking into the safety of the building closely with the school administration and the ministry of environment in this matter.”
