POLICE are gearing up for the commemoration program marking World War II’s 73rd anniversary that will be held today in Honiara.
Acting Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga said police will be deployed out to ensure the main road is freely accessed so that dignitaries are free to move around to attend this occasion.
“This is a very important event where we too need to support those who are commemorating this program because the sacrifices offered by those people during the World War II are for the cause of free society and now we are living in this democracy in our society,” she said.
“Therefore, Solomon Islanders must support that.”
The program will be held at the American war memorial at Skyline, and followed by other programs at the Commonwealth Street and at the War memorial at Rove sea front.
