A SPOKESMAN for the Kukum Traffic Centre, Inspector Brain Surimalefo has discouraged unnecessary U-turn within the main Honiara highways.
Mr Surimalefo made the warning following number of traffic accidents which had occurred last week caused as a result of careless and unnecessary U-turn from drivers.
________Drivers should bear in mind that there is no designated U-Turn road within the township main high way roads,________ he said.
He also advises all vehicle users to respect the traffic rules and other road users as road safety is every body____s business.
Mr Surimalefo also advise vehicle users to limit their speeds while approaching locations where schools are built beside the main roads for the safety of students and children.
________There were number of schools located near to the main roads. One of its kind is the Tamlan High school, the ECE primary school at the Multipurpose hall where little children used to cross these roads during school weeks and hours,________ he said.
________Therefore vehicle users, when reaching or travelling at those spots it is advisable to go at a lower speed to prevent unwanted and unexpected road traumas,________ he added.
Inspector Surimalefo stated that drivers must not take these massages lightly as it is the guidelines and safety of everyone who uses the roads.
________In order to prevent the road trauma, it is important that both the drivers and road users to follow and respect and most importantly bear in mind this safety advises from the police or by following traffic signs,________ he said.
He then said that Police will continue to advise road users and it is our duty to keep us safe by obeying the rule of traffic and other road users.
