THE Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is still continuing with its Covid-19 response operation in attending flights arrival, manning quarantine sites and the Western border in Western, Choiseul and Malaita Outer Islands of Malaita Province.
The operation hasn’t encountered any major issues, but if there are major issues, the police will tackle them down as soon as possible.
That’s according to the Assistance Police Commissioner, Simpson Pugeava when speaking in a national talk-back-show, last weekend.
“In Honiara, police assists on flight arrivals, escorts and continue with static duty on manning the quarantine sites,” he said.
Due to the limited people coming in the country, police is concentrating on manning the GBR Quarantine site teaming up with the Correctional Service Solomon Islands (CSSI) who is currently taking over the security service at the quarantine site.
Mr Pugeava said the operations right now is so far so good.
“We don’t have many issues on flight arrivals and from manning of the quarantine stations. Our work is progressing well but if any issue may arise, we will deal with them accordingly,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Pugeava thanked the people in the Western border, Choiseul and Malaita Outer Island for supporting police in looking out for illegal crossers at the borders.
“We still maintain the dealing of illegal crossing and I thanked chiefs and people living along the Western border for supporting police.
“So far no sighting or report of illegal crossing is on the borders,” he said.
