Four suspects have been identified by Auki police after they allegedly threatened to kill a disabled person with dangerous weapons.
The threatening incident occurred at Namohata village in West Kwara’ae, Malaita Province recently.
Luckily some members of the community rushed to assist the disabled elder and managed to save him from those young men.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province, Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa said, Auki Police had responded to the report of threatening and upon police arrival the suspects escaped.
PPC Tafoa said investigation into the matter is continuing and the community really supports police for possible arrest soon.
“Good if the suspects voluntarily surrender themselves to police for their safety.
“While I appreciate those, who support police with investigation, I am also calling on the community leaders and surrounding communities to assist the police to locate the whereabouts of those four suspects,” PPC Tafoa said.
Mr. Tafoa said police will not tolerate young able persons to harm disabled people or vulnerable victims.
“Police will find you and arrest those suspects no matter how long it takes.”
A case file of intimidation contrary to section 231 of the penal code and assault contrary to section 244 of the penal code has been established.
