POLICE have begun investigations into the burning down of two houses at White River as a result of clashes between two ethnic groups over the weekend.
The Police Media Unit confirmed on Monday that the situation is now calm after Police intervention over the weekend.
The row was reportedly between the Pileni and Reef Islanders residing at Karaina settlement, White River, over the disbursement of CDF funds.
A number of people have since been arrested over the incident.
“Arson is a serious offense therefore police are undertaking careful investigation.
“Gathering information from those in the community at this stage is relatively slow because of the recently held talks which resulted in cooling off the situation,” a spokesperson from the media unit said.
He however said police will continue to work with both communities to help track down those responsible.
Police meanwhile call on the public to continue to support them with any information which may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators involved.
