KUKUM Police Traffic Centre will kick off a random operation on all vehicles in the city, in a move to crackdown on all unlicensed vehicles and illegal drivers.
This was revealed to Paoa FM news last week by the Kukum Traffic Superintendent Charles Solomon Habatia.
Mr Habatia said that the operation is an organized part of ongoing move to deal with unlicensed vehicles and drivers, which believed to be a contributing factor to traffic congestion and accidents.
He further added that this operation would also help to crackdown irresponsible drivers and significantly to divert and control the flow of traffic as the continuous traffic jam becomes a major challenge to road users.
Superintendent Habatia also said that Police, due to the challenges of the current traffic chaos, police will be visible on the streets during at peak-hours.
________Police visibility on the road will be high in numbers during the East-West lane pick hours from 8am to 10am, 12pm to 2pm and 4pm to-6pm late in the afternoons,________ he said.
Mr Habatia said that this is to at least allow and ease the tight traffic jam and mostly to check on expired and unlicensed vehicles and drivers.
He also strongly urged drivers to minimize their speed limits while travelling into the one lane opposite the construction site at the central market and follow construction notices and signs.
________Now the work on the project is moving into the inner-road and therefore vehicle users need to minimize their speed while reaching those busy zones and respecting notices placed by either police or constructors,________ he said.
Superintendent Mr Habatia then warns call on all vehicle users to take heed of these random checks as the fight on traffic accidents is continuing.
