A TOTAL of 32 arrests were made during the 36 hours simulation lockdown within the Honiara Emergency Zone.
This was according to the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), Assistant Commissioner and Operation Commander Covid-19, Mr Simpson Pogeava in a press conference yesterday at National Disaster Management Office (NDMO).
Mr Pogeava said these arrests were done during the 36 hours lockdown on the 29th 6pm to 31st 6am.
“Few arrests were done during the cause of the operation for breach of restriction of movements as per Covid-19 Regulations.
“A Total of 32 arrests were made,” Pogeava said.
He added out of these 32 arrests were a female and two juveniles.
He explained 30 of the arrests were in the breach of the Covid-19 Regulation 2021 in restriction of movements.
“The other two arrests were for involving in drinking of kwaso.”
He added hopefully by yesterday afternoon most of the 30 cases would appear in the Magistrate Court.
“The other two because they are juveniles so were asked to attend court by tomorrow (today) with the presence of their parents,” Pogeava said.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Pogeava thanked all police officers men and women who worked tirelessly during the 36 hours lockdown.
However, he added police will continue to support other sectors especially health during the course of the Covid-19, in providing national security.
