THE POLICE Officer accused of stealing more than $300,000 of One Link Pacifica’s money that was kept as exhibit at the Rove Police Headquarters has denied the allegation.
Makasi Dolaiano had pleaded not guilty to one count of stealing as a clerk in the Honiara Magistrate’s Court recently.
This was for allegedly stealing $336,891.20 of One Link’s money that was kept at the Police exhibit facility.
Following his plea, his matter was adjourned for a pre-trial conference on July 20.
Dolaiano was alleged to be the officer who looked after the exhibit facility at the Rove Police Headquarters when the $300k exhibit went missing in October 2020.
That missing $300k was recovered by police after they arrested the manager of the money investment scheme One Link Pacifica in April 2020.
The money belongs to the customers or investors of the scheme.
The 300k was initially kept at the exhibit facility at the Central Police Station.
It was later transferred to the exhibit facility at the Rove Police Headquarters when it went missing.
