ROYAL Solomon Islands Police force shear moment of remembrance to five Royal Papua New Guinea Constable who lost their live over the past twelve months in their lines of duty.
They are late Senior Constable Salathiel Steve Lasingan, Constable Clifford Yembiningi, Senior constable Alan Anai,Chief Sergeant Camilus Salingwi and Senior constable Dunstan Baure.
Solomon Islands Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast said the demand made on police for unqualified dedication, without reservation or equivocation; to the defence of justice and integrity in our land regularly demand the prize of sacrifice from men and women in our ranks.
“We proudly remember those who have died in execution of their duty since the foundation of our nations and in particularly those whose untimely deaths have occurred during the last twelve months in Solomon Islands and the Pacific countries”
Mr Prendergast said their deaths and the manner circumstance of their deaths has reflected the realty of policing-the unpredictability, the danger, the occasional violence and constant risk that all police officers must confront if they are to do their duties.
“Even as I speak here today RSIPF officers are engaged in hazardous operation along the length and breadth of the country dealing with issues ranging from family and domestic violence to resource dispute” the commissioner said.
Meanwhile Mr Prendergast said it is thought to remember five Royal Solomon Islands Police Force officers who lost their lives by Natural death last year.
They are late inspector Galvin Ora, Police Sergeant Ben Jude Toala,Police sergeant Richard Falasi Saeni,Police constable Abel Liupule Siope and Police Constable Edward Kala.
“May their soul rest in peace internal peace with the almighty “he concluded.
