POLICE say they are looking into the purported buying of plastic trash that is currently taking Honiara by storm.
Hundreds of people who have collected plastic trash and filled them in plastic bottles have been lining up at various locations to sell them to purported agents of the unknown buyer.
When they handed their stuff to the agent, their names were taken and were promised to get their payments later.
Deputy Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga said her officers are looking into the matter.
“Our Investigators are now currently working on this case to identify what is the purpose of that but at this stage we have not heard of any complaints raised on that,” she added.
Matanga added this is becoming an issue so they will make sure no troubles rise out of it.
Some observers have described the activity as a scam.
To date, no one has yet been paid for the plastics
