POLICE say they are investigating claims the supervising Provincial Police Commander for Malaita province, Solomon Sisimia, sexually harassed one of his female officers at work.
The police’s Professional Standards and Internal Investigation (PSII) confirmed this yesterday following concerns from relatives of the female officer.
“We are looking into this allegation seriously,” a police statement said in response to queries the Solomon Star made.
“RSIPF always strives to maintain the high integrity of its officers and therefore such allegations will not be taken lightly,” it added.
The Solomon Star understands the female officer has since left Auki and is now working in Honiara.
She filed a complaint to the PSII after she left Auki.
It’s also understood the husband of the officer also works within the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.
